RAF Eagle Squadron

LeRoy Gover flew with the Royal Air Force Eagle Squadron during World War II until America entered the war. Then he transferred to the U.S. Army Air Forces and continued to fly in combat until 1943 when he returned to the United States.The full story of his combat flying, Spitfires, Thunderbolts, and Warm Beer: An American Fighter Pilot Over Europe, written by Brig. Gen. Phil Caine appeared in 1995.

After Gover’s death in 1997, The Friends were instrumental in acquiring his collection of photos, diary entries, and log books for the Academy and the McDermott Library.
